Nuwa is located in Seochon Nuhadong, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Seoul. This place, along with Bukchon, is one of the oldest neighborhoods and has been a residential area for royal families, noblemen, and middle-class people since the Joseon Dynasty. After the Japanese colonial period, it became a village where literati and artists from various fields lived. It is a neighborhood where painters such as Chusa Kim Jeong-hee, Jeong Seon, Yi Jung-seop, Yi Sang-beom, and Park No-su, as well as poets and novelists such as Yi Sang, Seo Jeong-ju, Kim Dong-ri, and Yun Dong-ju once resided. We have contemplated the modern meaning of “fengliu” (elegance) that can be enjoyed based on a small stay in Seochon, where such a long history and diverse cultures coexist.
누와는 서울에서 가장 오랜 역사를 지닌 동네 중 하나인 서촌 누하동에 위치하고 있다. 이곳은 북촌과 함께 가장 오래된 동네이며 조선시대부터 왕족과 사대부, 중인들의 거주지였다. 일제 시대 이후에는 다양한 분야의 문인과 예술인 들이 살던 마을이다. 추사 김정희, 정선, 이중섭, 이상범, 박노수 등의 화가와 이상, 서정주, 김동리, 윤동주 등의 시인가 소설가들이 거주하던 동네이다. 우리는 이러한 오랜 역사와 다양한 문화가 공존하는 서촌에 작은 스테이를 기반으로 누릴 수 있는 현대적 의미의 풍류에 대해 고민했다.
